Special milestone for much-loved pet
WHEN it comes to ageing gracefully, ‘Shelley’ the Arabian Riding Pony knows how to do it right.

While the life expectancy of an Arabian riding pony is typically 25 to 30 years, Shelley this week celebrated her 34th birthday – surrounded by her biggest fans.
“We bought Shelley for my daughter Ashlee when she was about 11 and Ashlee is now 21,” Warrnambool’s Lauren Pridmore said.
“With proper care, some of these horses can live into their late 30s or even early 40s so we’re hoping Shelley will be with us for a few more years to come.

“We absolutely love her and my youngest daughter, Charli, is also developing a strong bond.
“Shelley has such a gentle nature and despite her age she could still get up a pace if we took her for a ride.”
Over the years Shelley has patiently taken part in various pony club events and trail rides.
“Several children have learnt to ride on Shelley; she has the perfect nature for that, but these days she’s retired and living her best life at home.
“We all think it’s quite remarkable that she turned 34 this week; it was definitely something to celebrate.”
