Students excel at Eisteddfod
THIS year’s Warrnambool Primary Speech and Drama Eisteddfod has been hailed another huge success.

Organisers have this week congratulated and thanked all competitors, staff, parents, volunteers and adjudicator Sharon Holmes for their contributions to this year’s event.
“Without these combined efforts, the truly wonderful celebration of reading, writing, poetry, drama and creative expression would not have benefited so many children,” convenors Jan Nolan, Adele and Damien Webster said.
“Much of the material presented was contemporary, classical and entertaining in nature; embellished by literary prowess by all.
“Some were as young as five, some up to 12 or 13; some individuals and some with partners. It was nurtured in an engaging and supportive setting mostly among peers, school staff and family.”

Over 470 student entries were received from primary schools across the district.
This included West Warrnambool, East Warrnambool, Merrivale, Woolsthorpe, St Pius X, St John’s, St Joseph’s, OLHC Warrnambool, St Thomas’ Terang, St Mary’s Hamilton, and St Anthony’s Alphington.
Award recipients this year included:
Overall individual winner – Rocco Causer, St Mary’s Hamilton; second place Olivia Finnigan, St Joseph’s Warrnambool; third place Maddison Lenehan, St Pius X, Warrnambool.
The winner of the Iris Bickley Perpetual Shield for the overall winning school was St Pius X, Warrnambool.
