Surf's Up!

AMONG the big waves were even bigger smiles on the faces of participants at last weekend’s Disabled Surfers Association session.

The waves were crashing and the smiles were wide as participants and volunteers gathered at the Warrnambool beach last weekend for the first of this year’s Disabled Surfers Association sessions.
The waves were crashing and the smiles were wide as participants and volunteers gathered at the Warrnambool beach last weekend for the first of this year’s Disabled Surfers Association sessions.

The Warrnambool beach was alive with laughter as a large group of volunteers and ‘champion surfers’ gathered to enjoy time in the water.

For some it was their first time on a board while for others it was another opportunity to refine their skills.

The sessions cater for all ages and abilities and a range of specialised equipment is on hand, including beach wheelchairs, larger boards with handles, surf bean bags for extra comfort – along with an enthusiastic army of well-trained volunteers.

The next Disabled Surfers Association (Warrnambool) session is scheduled for Saturday, March 16.

This will run from 9am until 1pm. All welcome.
