LOCAL residents will have the chance to see inside the new South West Tech School during an Open Night on Thursday, September 17.
The new school, at South West TAFE, will open its doors to the general public from 3pm-6pm, following an official opening earlier in the day.
South West TAFE chief executive officer Mark Fidge said the Open Night was a perfect opportunity for anyone thinking about the next step in their lives.
“Anyone who is thinking of a new career, who wants to upgrade their skills, or simply wants to explore what’s possible for the future can come and meet our teachers, check out our facilities and find out all about what’s on offer in 2027,” Mr Fidge said.
In 2027 South West TAFE will offer more than 150 courses, covering trades, nursing, aged care, beauty, cookery, arts and more, including many free TAFE courses in high-demand areas.
South West Tech School is a separate entity but is located on the South West TAFE site in central Warrnambool.
Mr Fidge described its opening as a landmark moment for the region.
“This $13.41 million facility brings world-class, immersive STEM experiences directly to local secondary students - complementing what they’re already learning in the classroom with hands-on access to robotics, drones, 3D printing and virtual reality,” he said.
“For young people in our region, this is the kind of hi-tech learning that was simply out of reach before now.”
