The race to finals is on

WITH five rounds remaining of the Hampden League home and away season, the top five positions on the senior football ladder remain up for grabs.

North Warrnambool Eagles continue to dominate in season 2026, sitting unbeaten on top with the Terang Mortlake Bloods their nearest rivals three games behind.

Koroit, Portland and Warrnambool currently take up positions three to five – all on equal points – with the South Warrnambool Roosters hot on their heels in sixth, just one game behind.

The race to finals is well and truly alive, and no doubt there will be great interest in this weekend’s Portland v Warrnambool match-up at Reid Oval - and next week’s Portland v Koroit clash at Hanlon Park.

In the reserves, Warrnambool currently sits on top of the league ladder and two games clear of Cobden, followed by South Warrnambool, Hamilton and Portland (with the Saints in sixth but only percentage behind the Tigers).

The top five Open netball sides are beginning to consolidate, with South Warrnambool retaining its unblemished 2026 season to date with 13 consecutive wins.

Holding in second spot is Koroit, with the Saints three games clear of both Cobden (third) and Port Fairy (fourth) with Warrnambool rounding out the top five, a further two games behind.

The Blues will be pushing hard in coming weeks to retain its place in the finals race, with only percentage separating them from North Warrnambool in sixth.

In the run home, the Blues will face Portland, Cobden, Port Fairy, Terang Mortlake and Hamilton.

Similarly, North Warrnambool will round out its home and away season with games against Cobden, Port Fairy, Terang Mortlake, Hamilton and ladder leaders South Warrnambool.
