Tigers roar

LAST weekend’s round three win over Panmure sees Merrivale sitting at the top of the Warrnambool and District ladder.

Celebrating three (wins) from three, the Tigers sit just percentage above second-placed Russells Creek, followed by Nirranda, 

Kolora Noorat and Allansford rounding out the top five. 

Playing in front of a home crowd at Merrivale Rec Reserve, the Tigers got off to a strong start and went into the main break with a small but handy 19-point lead. 

They then extended this as the game progressed, adding a further five goals in the second half while restricting Panmure to just two majors for the term. 

Final scores were Merrivale 10.10.70 to Panmure 4.13.37. 

Best players for the Tigers were Oliver Doukas, Tate Porter, Manny Sandow, Tyler Stephens, Jalen Porter and Jye Wilson. 

Goals went to Dylan Weir (3), Bradley Bell (2), Jayden Brooks, Jalen Porter, Tate Porter, Manny Sandow and Jye Wilson. 

In other Warrnambool League games last weekend, Dennington defeated Kolora Noorat, 

South Rovers enjoyed a 54-point win over Old Collegians, Nirranda defeated Allansford and Russells Creek took the points over Timboon Demons. 

Tomorrow will see Old Collegians take on Dennington, Panmure host South Rovers, Merrivale travel to Nirranda, Allansford on the road to Timboon and Russells Creek will travel to face Kolora Noorat.
