Tigers strong at home
MERRIVALE confirmed its place in the Warrnambool League’s top five last weekend with a comfortable win over Allansford.

The Tigers, currently sitting in fourth position but just percentage behind Russells Creek, celebrated a 41-point win over the second-placed Cats.
Spurred on by a home crowd last Saturday, the Tigers opened their day strong, kicking 3.5 to the Cats’ 2.4 in the opening quarter.
By half-time the Tigers had a 15 point lead, however, the Cats crawled back in the third term and outscored the Tigers 3.3 to 3.1 to get within
13 points by three-quarter time.
The home side rallied in the fourth quarter and took advantage of the ball in their forward 50, adding 4.5 to the scoreboard while containing Allansford to just one behind.
Final scores were Merrivale 12.15.87 to Allansford 6.10.46.
Hamish Gurry had a great day in front of goals kicking five for Merrivale while team-mates Nathan Krepp (3) and Jonathan Sauze (2) were also contributors.
Sam Gleeson and Jack Neave kicked a goal apiece.
Among the best for the side were Matt Hausler, Hamish Gurry, Sam Gleeson, Jonathan Sauze, Josh Britton and Reggie Barling.
For Allansford, Robbie Hare kicked three and Levi Draffen, Aiden Gordon and Kalin Jans each kicked a goal.
Best for Allansford were Zach Jamieson, Aiden Gordon, Zavier Mungean, Josh Kirkwood, Kalin Jans and Justin Fedley.
In other round 13 matches, Dennington defeated Old Collegians, Panmure went down to Kolora Noorat, Russell Creek were big winners over South Rovers and Nirranda was too strong for Timboon.
This weekend will see Old Collegians host Merrivale, Panmure host Dennington, Kolora Noorat will travel to Timboon, Nirranda will be home to South Rovers and Russells Creek will travel to Allansford.
