The kindergarten was rated as exceeding National Quality Standard (NQS) which is given to services which go above and beyond the requirements in at least four of the seven quality areas measured.

Mayor Cr Ian Smith said it was a well-deserved result that demonstrated the effort and commitment of the educators.

“It’s been clearly shown that starting education with a solid foundation is central in achieving positive educational outcomes, and that’s what is being provided at Merri,” Cr Smith said.

“We congratulate the team for its high-quality education of the youngest members of our Moyne community, giving them a head start on their educational journey.”

The assessment noted the kindergarten environment was welcoming, where children demonstrated a strong sense of belonging and ownership.

The purposeful design of the indoor and outdoor environments provided children with multiple opportunities to engage in busy, social and robust play.

The assessment also noted the kindergarten’s educators provided children with opportunities to determine and identify risks and take precautions to ensure individual safety.

The exceeding NQS result is the latest achieved for Moyne kindergartens, with Merri kindergarten joining Mortlake, Koroit and Macarthur which have each received the same rating.
