Wannon Rooms host Congress
THE Wannon function rooms became a hive of activity and concentration last weekend.
The venue played host to the Warrnambool Bridge Club’s annual Congress.
More than 60 players enjoyed the competition on Saturday while on Sunday 40 players returned to the tables.
Players enjoyed catering by Riverview’s Kaylene Dart and while the numbers were well down since COVID, the event still attracted players from across Victoria and South Australia.
Best local results on Saturday included first place to Denis Fitzpatrick and Helen Scarborough and second place to Tarsh Hogan and Sally McDonald in the restricted pairs.
In the Swiss pairs, Paula Hillis and Aileen Park were 4th overall and best local pair while John Turner and Patsy Ryan were the most improved local pair.
In the teams’ event on Sunday, Linda Picone, John Sarena, Janet Attrill and Penny Thomas were 4th overall and best local team.
Kathy and Dennis Hilder, along with Marie Bird and Anne Ryan, were the most improved local team.
The Warrnambool Bridge Club invites any card players interested in learning the most popular card game in the world to ring Peter Cooke 0427 426 226 to register their interest in lessons next year.
