Winter hunt raises $3000
WOODFORD Primary School students will soon be enjoying some new equipment thanks to the proceeds of this year’s Warrnambool Winter Hunt.
The brainchild of local mums Jodie Knell and Alison Veal, the winter hunt was again a huge success, with more than 100 local teams taking part and over $3,000 raised for additional equipment at the school.
“We had another fantastic hunt and we thank everyone who took part as well as the many local businesses that supported it,” Jodie and Alison said.
“We are so thankful for the support of our incredible Warrnambool community.
“The amazing hunt teams kept us smiling and giggling as they wiggled like eels, moved like milkshakes, scoured the community for points in all locations and pulled weeds out for a competitive edge. We love enjoying winter in Warrnambool with our fabulous hunters.”
At the end of the hunt, the team with the most points was the ‘Denim Chaps.’
“This was our second year doing the hunt and we will definitely join again next year,” the team said.
“It was brilliantly organised with some great new additions, as well as some classics from last year. We love the Warrnambool Winter Hunt.”
Second place went to the ‘Possums’ while ‘The Fishy Dippies’ finished third and ‘Pringles 5’ fourth.
According to ‘Possums’ members, the hunt is a social and community-focused activity that brings family, friends and businesses together.
“Rather than hibernate indoors over our stunning Warrnie winter days, we rug up and head out to explore, perform and share in varying, sometimes embarrassing activities,” they said.
“We love that we discover something new every time we do an activity, and socially, connect with the other teams and the businesses supporting the activities.
“It keeps us all locally invested in our many small businesses and what they contribute to our community. For us, the time as a family to have some fun and switch it up from just the usual, has made the hunt a calendar standout over the winter holidays.”
